The Complete Guide
IELTS (International English Language Testing System) is the most widely accepted English proficiency test for study abroad, recognised by over 11,000 institutions worldwide. For Indian students heading to the UK, Australia, Canada, Ireland or New Zealand, an IELTS Academic score is almost always mandatory for both admission and the student visa.
The test assesses four skills ā Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking ā and is scored on a band scale of 1 to 9. Most universities require an overall band of 6.0 to 7.0, with no individual band below 5.5ā6.0. Scores are valid for two years.
