Can I Get an Education Loan Without Collateral for the UK?

Yes โ€” and the UK is one of the easier destinations to fund without collateral, because one-year Master's programmes keep the total cost lower. Here's who lends, at what rate, and how much.

Why the UK is easier to fund without collateral

A one-year UK Master's costs about โ‚น35โ€“58 L in total (โ‚น20โ€“35 L tuition plus โ‚น12โ€“18 L living), and Indian students borrow about โ‚น35โ€“55 L on average. That often fits within a public sector bank's collateral-free limit of โ‚น40โ€“50 lakh at listed universities โ€” so many UK students don't need the larger, pricier unsecured loans that US students rely on.

The exceptions are top UK MBAs and two-year programmes, where costs can pass โ‚น70 lakh. There, students usually combine an unsecured loan from ICICI or HDFC Credila with collateral for the rest, or family savings.

Lenders that never need collateral

  • Avanse Global โ€” from 12%, 127 UK universities on its list. No co-applicant either at 162 listed universities worldwide (including London Business School); a relaxed co-applicant profile elsewhere.
  • Yes Bank โ€” from 10.5%, for courses on its eligible list. Any co-applicant with a working income qualifies; they keep an average bank balance of โ‚น5,000 or โ‚น25,000 depending on the course's category.
  • Prodigy Finance โ€” 9.25%โ€“13.5%, in GBP or USD, for listed STEM and MBA programmes. No co-applicant.
